4th Annual Golding Dog Show!

Seventh-grade students at Golding Middle School recently hosted their annual Dog Show, a long-standing classroom tradition in Mrs. Strobeck’s classes that combines research, creativity, and presentation skills.
Over several weeks, students researched dog breeds within assigned breed groups and then recreated their chosen dogs, preparing them for judging day. Students then presented their creations, demonstrating their knowledge of breed characteristics and group classifications.
This year’s judges included Margaret Jackman-Pryor, Executive Director of the Animal Shelter of the Schoharie Valley; Amy Kennedy, Veterinary Technician; and Morgan Kraemer, owner and trainer at Meadow Park Kennels, who also brought dogs Chocolate, Vanilla, and Oliver for students to meet.
Awards were presented to top entries in each breed group:
-
Toy Group — Maggie McGuiness, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
-
Herding Group — Trent Cosser, Entlebucher Mountain Dog
-
Hound Group — Emily Page, Otterhound
-
Non-Sporting Group — Leanna Wissenbach, Miniature Poodle
-
Sporting Group — Trever Smith, Barbet
-
Terrier Group — Aldo Vasquez-Cobon, Scottish Terrier
Additional honors included Reserve Best in Show awarded to Trever Smith, Best in Show awarded to Aldo Vasquez-Cobon, and the Crowd Favorite award going to Trent Cosser.
The event highlights student research skills, creativity, and public speaking, while also giving students a fun and engaging way to showcase their work.
