Golding students hold mock career fair
This is the image for the news article titled Golding students hold mock career fairSeventh-grade students at Golding Middle School recently held a mock career fair, for which they not only researched a career, but also “recruited” fellow students to their field with brochures and business cards they created themselves.

The fair was part of a career research unit that included ELA classes, Home and Careers, the library and the guidance department.

After taking a Career and Personality Inventory through Naviance.com, the students selected a career to research. They then used the Occupational Outlook Handbook and other sources to investigate responsibilities, working conditions, qualifications and the job outlook associated with their career.

While doing research, they used another online platform, called NoodleTools, to take notes on virtual note cards and build a works-cited list as well as a populated outline.

From that information, they then created brochures and business cards, which they shared with their peers at the fair, and also wrote a traditional research paper. They used MLA style to cite their sources in text and also submitted a works-cited list.
